Spanish in Carmel

In a move something like bringing coals to Newcastle, the owner of a beautiful view lot on 17 Mile Drive came to Santa Barbara to find an architect to build his dream house, whose main requirement was to emulate the exquisite buildings he loved in Carmel. This quickly became a dream house as well for the architect, who was given carte blanche to design the most beautiful and playful version imaginable of the Spanish Colonial Revival, a style more than any other period persuasion that lends itself to creative exploration and invention. Sadly, for one reason or another, it was never built.
